Bruce Springsteen Postpones September Concerts To Recover From Peptic Ulcer Disease

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band on Wednesday postponed all remaining tour dates in September, as the singer undergoes treatment for peptic ulcer disease.
In a statement on social media, The Boss postponed eight tour dates, and added that the band would make up two concerts previously missed in Philadelphia.
“Over here on E Street, we’re heartbroken to have to postpone these shows. First, apologies to our fabulous Philly fans who we missed a few weeks ago. We’ll be back to pick these shows up and then some. Thank you for your understanding and support,” Springsteen said in a statement.
“We’ve been having a blast at our U.S. shows and we’re looking forward to more great times. We’ll be back soon,” he said.
The 73-year-old rocker is taking the break on the advice of his doctors. Peptic ulcer disease involves ulcers, which are open sores, forming in the stomach and part of the small intestine, according to the Mayo Clinic. The peptic ulcers, which are typically caused by bacterial infection or frequent use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen, can be quite painful, exposing sensitive tissue to stomach acid.
Springsteen’s 2023 tour already included a month break through October, so he will have two months to recuperate.
Ticketholders for the postponed shows in Syracuse, N.Y.; Baltimore, Md.; Pittsburgh, Penn.; Uncasville, Conn.; Albany, N.Y.; Columbus, Ohio; and Washington, D.C., will receive updates about rescheduled shows.
The tour is set to resume Nov. 3 in Vancouver, B.C., Canada, and wrap Dec. 12 in San Francisco, Calif.
